Public telephones are available throughout Italy. Either local or international calls require the use of a phone card (Carta Telefonica) which may be purchased at any newsstand, tobacco shop or coffee shop.
Long distance Calls - Interurbana
Both local and long distance call require dialing the area code before the number.
Cellular phones do not require the area code dialing, just dial the phone number of the cellular.

From USA you can address the regula mail addressed as c/o Post Office by adding "FERMO POSTA" after the name of the town. The recipient can claim mail at the Central Post Office upon identification by passport.

Stamps
Stamps may be purchased at the any Post Office or tobacco shops. Always ask for the exact stamp amount for the country of destination.
Post Office Hours
Post Offices are open from 8:30AM - 5:00PM, Saturdays they close at 12:00PM. Post Offices in large cities might be open 24 hours a day for registered mail and telegram services.
Internet connection
Available on the entire country both dial-up and DSL, but expensive, about €8 for one hour connection. If you need to connect more than once a day try to find an Internet Cafés they are pretty much everywhere and less expensive.
