Tuscany 5-day grape harvesting

Chianti region

In Tuscany harvesting season, grapes and olives, is in full-swing in September and October, this is the perfect time for those whishing to understand and participate in some of the oldest and best rewarding farm traditions in the region. Travelers can experience both the olive oil processing and the wine making, first hand right in the cellar or olive oil mill where the activity takes place, and if they whish can help in the field in the manual harvest.

Typical Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival at villa in the afternoon

Hotel check in time at disposal. Welcome drink and olive oil tasting.

Day 2 – Typical Tuscan country breakfast.

Starting of the grape harvest. Participants are welcome to participate in the manual work if they wish. Return to the villa for a short description of wine making process by the winery oenologist. Out door lunch with Tuscan specialty. Afternoon at disposal for an excursion in the area or continue working on the fields with the farmers. Siena, San Gimignano are only a short driving distance from the villa; Florence is about 45 minutes of 4-lane highway.

Day 3 – Wine tasting

After breakfast visit of the winery with tasting of 5 wines produced in the premises matched with “stuzzichini” (Tuscan equivalent of finger-food) under the guidance of the winery
Sommelier (professional wine taster). Rest of the day at disposal for personal activities.

Day 4 – Full day at disposal.

Participants can choose to do what ever pleases them. Excursions in the Tuscan countryside, participate in the harvesting operations, hang-on in the farm, or whatever. In the evening farewell candel-light dinner in the historical wine cellar with traditional music. This dinner is a rite of ancient traditions that is meant to be propritiatory for a good vintage
