VACATICAN MUSUEMS EXCURSION The excursion begins departing from the company office or with a courtesy pick up at your downtown hotel. Passing through Piazza della Repubblica you can admire the Fountain of the Nayadhes. Continuing along the ancient Aurelian Walls which once encircled the city you will see the famous Villa Borghese Park and the northern gate of the city leading into famous Piazza del Popolo where you will see the Egyptian obelisk dating back to the time of Ramses II. After your arrival at the Vatican Walls your guide will take you into the Vatican Museums. Going up on the beautiful Spiral staircase you'll enter the Gallery of the apestries, the Raphael rooms, frescoed Raphael and the Gallery of the Geographical Maps before arriving inside of the famous Sistine Chapel with its magnificent frescos of the Last Judgment and the ceiling by Michelangelo. At the end of the excursion you can choose to stay at the Vatican and visit the Basilica or you'll be taken back to your hotel or departure point. PLEASE NOTE: Entrance into churches requires appropriate attire (no shorts, miniskirts or uncovered shoulders). It is also advisable to wear comfortable shoes for visits.
