This tour is designed to be consistent with our philosophy of
"unpack-once"
Participants will stay in a 4-star equivalent villa or country in the very
heart of Chianti wine production area. Located half way between Florence and
Siena (less than 20 miles each), this region is the best-known wine producing
area in the world. It offers a treasure chest of wineries, castles, villas and
abundance of art, history and culinary traditions.
Vineyards, olive trees, medieval hill towns and magnificent Renaissance
villas are dotted the landscape and the paths where participants will walk. They
will have the opportunity to visit the hamlet of Castello di Volpaia, once the
last bastion of the Florentine defense system, now a highly respected winery and
olive oil mill.
Participants will also visit San Gimignano, Siena, Florence, Greve in
Chianti, and Colle di Val d'Elsa In Colle di Val d'Elsa, we will visit its
weekly outdoor market (every Friday), one of the oldest and largest in the
Tuscany region.
The trails on this program offer a variety of challenges for intermediate and
expert hikers. Accommodations will be in a four-star hotels, villas or selected
country inns.
