VENETO REGION

HOW TO GET THERE


Part of region is located on the eastern part of the Po River Valley and part of the Dolomites on the northern part. The extensive plain part of the Po delta river is formed, for the largest part, of water, and it combines two unique aspects of the Italian landscape, the Venice lagoon and the majestic peaks of the Dolomites.
Venice of course is the main Veneto attraction, although in the region there are several center absolutely faboulus and much less expensive of the region capital. Padua, Verona, Vicenza are three centers highly prized. Also, in the region partially lays Lake Garda a beautiful lake with out the crowds that surround the better known Lake Como.
Venice is serviced by a modern and efficient airport with intercontinental flights, a train service and is the port of call of many cruise lines that either depart, arrives or simply stop there.
No, you do not need a car in Venice.


WHAT TO DO

The region capital is Venice but the rest of the region includes several other artistically and historically unique cities like, Verona (Juliet & Romeo), Padova (Giotto's Cappella degli Scrovegni), Vicenza (Palladio's venetian villas) just to name a few.

The art around the region is Roman, with strong influence of Byzantine (San Marco and Torcello cathedrals) and outstanding examples of Gothic and Renaissance architecture.

Do not to be missed, while in Venice, the islands of Murano for glass, and Burano and Torcello for the "laces."



WHERE TO STAY

Venice boosts a wide offer of lodging for any taste and budget. Room rates vary with the tourist density, the more they arrive the higher the price. Weekends are more expensive and hard to find, beginning of week are less expensive and easily found.
